Ford Wet Belt Replacement

Ford's 1.0 EcoBoost petrol and 1.5/2.0 EcoBlue diesel engines use a belt that runs inside the engine, bathed in oil. As the belt ages it sheds rubber, and those fragments block the oil pump pickup — which is how a running Ford ends up with a seized engine. We replace Ford wet belts to the latest revised Ford intervals, not the original service book, using genuine Ford kits throughout.

Why this matters

Ford has revised wet belt intervals downwards more than once. We work to the current interval for your exact engine code — and we always check the oil pickup, because a new belt on a partially blocked pickup will still cost you the engine.

FAQs

Ford Wet Belt — common questions

Which Ford engines have a wet belt?
The 1.0 EcoBoost petrol (Fiesta, Focus, Puma, EcoSport, B-Max, C-Max, Mondeo) and the 1.5 and 2.0 EcoBlue diesels (Fiesta, Focus, Kuga, Transit and Transit Custom) all use a belt-in-oil design.
How much does a Ford wet belt replacement cost?
It depends on the engine and whether the oil pump needs replacing, so we quote per vehicle in writing before any work starts. Call 01730 555 777 with your registration and we'll give you an exact figure.
How often should a Ford wet belt be changed?
On most 1.0 EcoBoost engines we recommend every 6 years or 100,000 miles, and sooner on cars used mainly for short journeys or with a patchy oil-change history.
